Chris is an eager-to-impress suburban teenager. He plays soccer at his high school and befriends the charming senior and the varsity team’s popular captain, June. However, after suffering a season-ending injury at practice, Chris is prescribed opiate painkillers. He gradually becomes dependent on them, even after making a full recovery. Hoping to grow closer to June, Chris offers to share his pills, keeping it a secret from his new friends including June’s younger sister, Sofia. 

Late one night, June offers Chris stronger drugs, who blacks out and wakes up the next morning to see that June has died of an overdose. Chris continues taking painkillers, desperate to numb the grief and guilt over June's untimely death. As he grows closer to Sofia over their shared trauma and closeness to June, the weight of his guilt and the burden of his secret eat away at him, pushing Chris to finally get clean and come clean.
